R&I for a fair digital transition (pdf)

Over the last 20 years, digital technology has significantly shaped all aspects of our social, professional and personal life. The challenge for policymaking is to ensure that there is a balance between encouraging innovation and managing and mitigating the differential effects of the introduction of new technologies in business sectors, or in other spheres.

The European digital transition has huge implications for our lives: from the economic effects on business and employment, to our own health care, and how we access public services. This report presents the results of a study on the existing research in the human and social sciences (SSH). This research is relevant to the questions that need to be addressed to ensure well informed and evidence-based science policy.

R&I for a fair green transition (pdf)

The European Green Deal promises to implement measures to encourage a profound change to our lives, cities, and societies. It aims to restore a better, more harmonious and balanced relationship with our planet.

The European Commission has adopted a set of proposals to make the EU's climate, energy, transport and taxation policies fit for reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels.

This report discusses the research in Social and Human Sciences (SSH) funded at the European level via Horizon 2020 (H2020) addressing the relation between green policies and the labour market in particular. It considers existing research gaps on the human and social costs of the green transition, regulatory reform, and required reforms in education, and technical and vocational training to equip youth for the future job market. Consideration is also given to other important research themes to be developed.
