The Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto, with over 3.500 students, offers 13 undergraduate courses, 26 Master’s courses and 8 doctoral courses in the following fields: Archaeology, Information and Communication Sciences, Language Sciences, Romance Languages and Classical Studies, English Studies, German Studies, Philosophy, Geography, History, History of Art, Museology, and Sociology. 

Within this general framework, courses on offer include more specialized areas, such as International Relations, Translation, Portuguese as a Foreign Language, Comparative Literature, Teacher Training, African Studies, Heritage Studies, Geographic Information Systems and Spatial Planning, and Medieval Studies. Some of these courses are taught jointly with other Faculties of the University of Porto and/or other universities.

Apart from degree programmes, the Faculty also provides a wide range of vocational training courses and continuing education courses (including a range of language programmes covering both European and non-European languages). Most of the vocational training courses are certified by the Portuguese Pedagogical and Scientific Council for In-Service Training and award credits for career development.

The Faculty’s teaching staff is highly qualified and almost all of its members hold doctoral degrees. They have a vast scientific output and significant international experience in their research and teaching areas. Both teaching staff and PhD and master’s students are involved in a number of national and international research projects as part of the activities of R&D Units accredited and financed by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology.

The Faculty of Humanities at SDU offers a wide range of activities. The Faculty’s members of staff provide top quality research, teaching and dissemination in fields ranging from classic humanistic disciplines to new areas of research and academic subjects, which we conduct both alone and in close collaboration with our sister faculties.

The Faculty of Arts employs around 500 full-time members of academic staff and has around 6,000 students.

The Faculty of Humanities, founded in 1920, is the oldest of the eight faculties at the University of Turku. It comprises two schools: the School of History, Culture and Arts Studies, and the School of Languages and Translation Studies. The mission of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Turku University is to generate new information and understanding through research, and to provide high quality teaching.

The Faculty of Social Sciences is a vibrant scientific community of two thousand academic individuals. Its nearly 200 teachers and researchers and ca. 1,800 students all take an active role in the activities and development of the faculty. The Faculty includes altogether three departments comprising one or more fields of study and research.

The three departments are: the Department of Psychology and Speech-Language Pathology, the Department of Social Research, and the Department of Philosophy, Contemporary History and Political Science.

The Faculty also hosts the INVEST Research Flagship Centre, which aims to provide a new model for welfare states that is more equal, better targeted towards problem groups, more anticipatory as well as economically and socially sustainable.

The University of Vienna is the central and most important actor in the internationalisation of the tertiary sector in Austria. This is related to the size of the University, its spread of subjects, the attractive location and the active pursuit of the internationalisation strategy.

Roughly one quarter of students are non-Austrians, more than 2,700 exchange students are welcomed and supported at the University each year. Conversely, the University assists the mobility of around 1,000 outgoing students. One third of academic staff of the University of Vienna comes from abroad, the percentage of newly appointed professors from abroad is over 70 %.

The University raises over EUR 15 million from the European funding sources every year. More than 70 partner universities, approximately 370 ERASMUS partner universities and memberships in organisations such as EUA, UNICA, ASEA-UNINET, and ACUNS ensure excellent international networking at an institutional level.
